National Capital Region to test wireless emergency alert system on April 5TH.

The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) is helping coordinate 20 jurisdictions in the region to simultaneously issue a test message to the public through the Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) system.

House Fire 12000 BLK Woodsboro Pike

At 02:47Hrs Co.11 was dispatched for house fire in the 12000 Blk of Woodsboro Pike. E161 arrived on scene to find two story house with heavy fire on the Charlie side and pulled a 2inch line to begin fire attack and established command in the attack mode. Car into Post Office

On Monday March 5TH at approximately 12:15PM, companies 11 & 24 were dispatched to an auto accident on Frederick Street with victims trapped. A MSP Trooper arrived on scene first and reported a vehicle into the Walkersville post office, and all occupants out of the vehicle. New Maryland smoke alarm law; what you need to know!

A new state law aimed at reducing home fire deaths went into effect on July 1, 2013. It requires replacement of any battery-only operated smoke alarm that is more than 10 years old with a unit powered by a 10-year sealed-in battery having a “Hush” button feature – ultimately affecting more than 800,000 Maryland homes with battery- only operated smoke alarms.
