On Saturday January 20th, 2018, the Walkersville Volunteer Fire Company celebrated 2017 with our annual company banquet in our banquet hall! Along with a large portion of our members and their guests, we welcomed County Executive Jan Gardner, Acting County Director of Volunteer Fire and Rescue Services Deputy Chief Kevin Fox, along with numerous other county and local dignitaries.

AFor a year-end review - in 2017, WVFC had a total of 788 calls, in which we were first due for 505. 35% of those calls were between the hours of 1200 and 1800, 27.8% were between 1800 and midnight, 24.6% were run between 06:00 and 1200, and the rest were between midnight and 0600. The company also ran 17 drills in 2017.

Some of this year's awards and special recognitions were as follows:
Member of the Year RICHARD BEASLEY
Community Volunteer of the Year CHARLIE SHOEMAKER
Service Recognition for Serving as Vice President CHOP HILDEBRAND
Firefighter of the Year WILLARD "BILLY" HORINE (PICTURED)
Most Valuable Responder Award JEFF EARLY (PICTURED)
Service Recognition as Outgoing Board Member(s) VAUGHN ZIMMERMAN, LARRY SHEPLEY, PUNKY EASTERDAY
Service Recognition for Outgoing Line Officer JEREMY "FUFU" HEFLIN

In addition to the successful event, we'd like to highlight our numerous volunteers who came out to the firehouse on Banquet Eve to help set up and clean up. We wouldn't be successful without our people, and these pictures prove it.
